The Bluetooth pfodAppTMfor AndroidTMuses serial Bluetooth connections.
pfodAppTMfor Android allows you tocontrol micro-controllers, like Arduino, via bluetooth, from yourAndroid phone. NoAndroid programming required.
For testing purposes it isconvenient to make serial Bluetooth connections between you mobilephone and a terminal session on your PC. This page describes how toconnect from an Android mobile to a terminal session running onWindows 7. This is an alternative to the preferredmethod which used a USB Bluetooth connection. The preferredmethod can be used for Windows, Mac or Linux and also providesdirect serial access to the bluetooth module for configuration.

EnableBluetooth on PC
First make sure Bluetooth is enabled on yourcomputer. On my Sony Viao this dialog pops up each time I start thecomputer.
Add BluetoothDevice
Press the Windows Start Button and search for “addbluetooth”

Choose “Add a bluetooth device” Then onyou Android mobile open the menu
and choose “Settings” and from therechoose “Wireless & networks and then “Bluetoothsettings” and click on “Discoverable”
The PC needs to scan for the mobile while it is“Discoverable”. When the PC finds the mobile, the PCdisplays

Find Assigned COMPort
To find out which COM port has been allocated to themobile, click on the Windows Start button and search for “bluetooth”and choose “Change Bluetooth settings”

Click on the “COM Ports” tab to see whichport has been allocated to your mobile.

Then check the baud rate that this COM port is setto. Press the Window Start button and search for “devicemanager”

In the Device Manager open the COM ports and rightclick on the COM port Number assigned to your mobile and click on the“Port Settings” tab check or change the baudrate.

In this case the baud rate is 9600.

ConnectingpfodApp™ to TeraTerm
Before trying to connect frompfodApp on your mobile to the computer, first check that the computeris set to accept connections. Open the “ Change Bluetoothsettings” dialog as described above under FindAssigned COM Port and click on the Option tab and tick the “AllowBluetooth devices to connect to this computer”

Note: The computer is NOT discoverable. So the onlydevices that try and connect are those that already know thecomputers bluetooth address.
Finallyfollowthe steps described here to connect to your terminal session fromyour mobile's pfodApp. Note: the timeout for the PC connection is setto 0. You can now test various micro-page pfod messages to see howthey will be displayed on the pfodApp and what command messages thepfodApp will send back when the user selects the various options.
